It was not so much about the shout but about obedience. God could have done it any other way but He had a specific way that it needed to be done and the work of the Israelites was to follow through with the instruction.

Joshua 6:10 NLT – “Do not shout; do not even talk,” Joshua commanded. “Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then shout!”

And what an amazing leader Joshua was! This is what it means to be after God’s heart..to ensure that people did as God instructed to the latter.

God cannot trust you with leadership until He knows that you will lead people towards obeying His word and following the guidance He gives you for His children..and at times this is tested when you are not a leader yet.. walking in obedience is so powerful and opens doors for us.

Did they grow impatient? Did some think that this was absurd and didn’t make sense? There are things that God will ask us to do that will seem out of the ordinary and our work isn’t to try and understand why but to simply obey.

Joshua 6:20 NLT – When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.

The results of obedience are a life of victory over the enemy! The truth is sometimes we are “shouting” in the place of prayer when what God requires us to do is to walk in obedience.
